Feeling MUCH better today, WHOO HOO! Though hoovering the house has bathed me in a cold sweat so I need to sit down for a second LOL! I will definitely be back tomorrow with weekly stats maybe some pictures and more workout advice. And T (You KNOW who you are) promised to take workout photos as Scott has been so slack, and yet SHE hasn't come up with the goods yet either.....maybe this week?!

A sneak preview for my stats tomorrow, I just weight myself and I am no longer in the 66.x kg but the 65.x kg C'MON!

Happy Blitzing!

  1. Hey,
Glad to hear that you're getting better..
Today, I couldn't help but hop on the scale, and I was like "what in the world??!!", my weight was still the same 76Kg!! does that mean I'm doing something wrong? maybe you can help by telling me do you follow a specific guide on how much carb-protein-fat percentages to take daily?? for the last week I kept it 50-60%carb(coming from fruits, veggies, whole grains, I sneak 1 Tbsp of honey or brown sugar), 20-25% protein (chicken breast, low-fat dairy, beans, peanut butter), less than 20% fat (just 1 Tbsp of olive oil), that's it!! am I doing something wrong?
plus, say when I do cardio and I burn 250 cal, should I add these 250 cal to my 1,800 cal diet? in what form should I add them? I'm so confused, and sometimes I really don't know what the hell to eat anymore :D
I'd be really grateful for you if you help me on this one, this month I probably droped just 1 kg, I know it's better than nothing, but I'm really trying harder :(

  2. Hi Sandy

It's called a "plateau" when your weight jsut seems to "stick". I stuck at 71kg for about a month and then it started dropping again. Stick with it and don't lost faith.

Are you keeping a food diary or using a tool like caloriecount.about.com to track what you are eating?

It is not an exact science and it is hard to find the balance that works for you. If you are breast feeding you should definitely NOT go below 1800cals a day. Normally you want a 500cal defecit, between eating and exercising, of what you consume in a day and what you burn. Calorie Count does it really well with their burn meter based on the information you give them. But add breast feeding into the mix and they can't give you a number. On NUMEROUS searches and asking in forums and asking experts etc, take the sedentary calorie amount which is your minimum you need with no exercise and then ADD the 500cals extra you need for breast feeding, if this number is BELOW 1800 cals then take 1800 as your basic calorie intake. Now, if you are exercising regularly then you can set your level to minimum or active and then adjust your calories again accordingly. Now you have the amount you need for an active lifestyle, and the minimum for breast feeding. You should be taking around 2000 cals on days you are working out and if you are not working out then at least 1800. Does that make sense?

Some things to try and see if it kick starts your weight loss again:
1- are you drinking enough fluids? You need to drink approx 1.5litres or more a day.
2- are you drinking calories, like lattes, sweet and fizzy drinks, alcohol etc?
3- are you snacking enough to keep your metabolism burning? DOn't jsut have your 3 meals, you MUST have healthy snacks inbetween meals to keep your body ticking over.
4- try eating a 100cals more a day for a week and see if it kick starts your metabolism again.

Once you find the balance that works for you it becomes a lot easier. As I say, I stuck at 71kg for about 4 weeks. I upped my cardio to 4 sessions and did strength training for 2. I also did 2 interval sessions as 2 of my cardio to mix it up a little as your body does get used to workouts, the key is to mix it up every week so you are not doing the same thing over and over. I also would have 1 meal with NO CARBS. For lunch I would have an omelette and salad or chicken and avocado or something. All this combined seemed to kicks tart my weight loss again.

    GOOD LUCK!
